Door to door salespeople are working north Marion County this week. Today, November 26th, some were in Hubbard. While some door to door sales are legitimate businesses, many are not, and criminals may impersonate salespeople in order to commit theft or burglary.
The Cities of Aurora, Donald, Hubbard, St. Paul, and Woodburn all require licenses or permits to conduct business. If you are contacted by someone claiming to be a door to door salesperson, you can ask to see their City license or permit.
If a “salesperson” is acting suspiciously, call 911 and report the person to police.
If you do make a purchase at home, Federal consumer protection laws give you the right to rescind the transaction within 72 hours. For more information and your rights, visit the Federal Trade Commission website.
