It was a snowy and cold morning at the St. Paul Rodeo Complex, but it was the ideal training location for a group of K9 officers and their partners. The City of St. Paul and the St. Paul Rodeo Association made the facility and grounds available to law enforcement agencies to help police dogs learn to operate in unusual surroundings and inclement weather. Officers and their canine partners conducted tracking exercises in and under the grandstands and around the barns and outbuildings.
The event allowed officers to become familiar with layout of the Rodeo Complex; useful knowledge to have in case of an emergency, and part of the continuing effort by the City and the St. Paul Rodeo Association to provide a safe environment for visitors. Officers from Salem PD, the Marion and Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office, and Newberg-Dundee PD were among participating agencies.
