November 04, 2019 – Woodburn, OR – On November 1, 2019, the Woodburn Police Department (WPD) took a report of a male suspect who followed and groped a victim near the intersection of Second St., and No Name St., in Woodburn. The suspect has been identified as Woodburn resident Alvaro Mendoza-Sanchez, 28-years-old, 5’1’’ approximately 130-150 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes (See attached booking photo)
It was reported that Mendoza-Sanchez followed the victim in his vehicle, a blue 1991 Nissan pick-up truck with Oregon License Plate 948 LLL (see attached photo). The victim reported that Mendoza-Sanchez then parked his vehicle and began following them on foot. The victim reported that Mendoza-Sanchez appeared to be using a cellphone as a recording device during the assault. The victim was able to flee from Mendoza-Sanchez and later made a report to police on November 1, 2019, approximately two to three weeks after the incident occurred. From this, WPD investigators were able to identify Mendoza-Sanchez as the suspect.
WPD investigators were also able to identify Mendoza-Sanchez as a suspect in a separate incident reported on August 31, 2019. During this incident, a separate victim reported a Hispanic male adult, driving a blue older model pick-up truck, who attempted to pull the victim into his vehicle near the area of 900 Parr Road in Woodburn. Mendoza-Sanchez was later positively identified as a suspect in this incident.
Mendoza-Sanchez was arrested on Attempted Kidnapping I, Sex Abuse I x 2, Harassment x 2 and Trespassing II. He was transported to Marion County Jail.
